Excellent book. August 4, 2006 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great book to read from cover to cover. Explains alot about kundalini experience. Recommend it.
Not a bad book, but if you're looking for a how-to you won't find it here. January 26, 2007 This book gives an excellent description of the kundalini phenomenon, as well as some of the negative side-effects that can result from its awakening. Irving gives enough information about how it is thought to work that the attentive reader can make use of it in the event that the kundalini manifests within them (such as balancing the two halves of the serpent and circumstances under which the awakening can go awry). Unfortunately, Irving rants about psychiatry for a number of pages and completely derails himself; many might be put off by this and give up on the book. The bibliography and interviews with Gopi Krishna are both interesting and helpful. However, there isn't enough information that could be used as a how-to for awakening the kundalini deliberately. On the whole, this book would be a good addition to the library of an occultist or practitioner of yoga for the intent of self-transformation.
