Editorial Reviews:

Book Description
New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan presents the story of Sarah, the eldest of the extraordinary-and magical-Drake sisters, now rewritten and expanded, in this very special collector's edition.

"Sarah Drake has come home." Ever since Damon Wilder sought refuge in Sea Haven, he's heard the same breathless rumor pass the lips of nearly every local in the sleepy coastal town. Even the wind seems to whisper her name-a reverie so powerfully suggestive that it carries the curious Damon to Sarah's cliff-top home, and seeks to shelter him there. But Damon has not arrived alone. A killer has tracked him to Sea Haven, and into the shadows of Drake House. But Sarah has her own secrets, and danger-as well as a desire more urgent than either has ever known-is just a whisper away...

4 out of 5 stars A Mixture of Paranormal, romance & mystery   December 9, 2005

This is the first book I've read by Christine Feehan, and I wasn't quite sure what to expect - especially given the fact that it cost less than $3.00! However, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised.

"Magic in the Wind" is a combination of romance, mystery & the paranormal. It's about a man whose brilliant homeland security ideas puts him the position of being a target to an unscrupulous few, and the group of 7 sisters who use their "special powers" in an effort to save his life. It's also about the love affair that ensues between this "genius" and the eldest of the 7 sisters.

Overall, I found this book to be a page-turner and, given the fact that it's only 103 pages long, this means that it can be read in a relatively short period of time. Perfect for those who don't have a lot of reading time available.

I chose to give this book 4 stars instead of 5 because, while reading it, I felt that several areas could have been fleshed out more - I found myself wanting some additional information that just wasn't there...

If you're interested in the paranormal, and like to be entertained by both romance & mystery, than give this book/author a try. You sure can't beat the price!

5 out of 5 stars Magical - Action Packed - Sensual story   October 15, 2005

Damon Wilder seemed to hear it in the wind `Sarah's come home'. Damon was a man who sought anonymity and refuge in the small seaside town of Sea Haven, he was annoyed to say the least of the whispers, as well as the very wind seemingly telling him - `Sarah's come home...' - Who was this paragon? Who was this god-like woman that the town seemed so in awe of. Even Sarah's house - Drake house - the house that sat on a clifftop opposite his, was intriguing and something of a mystery. He could go and investigate why the paint seemed so pristine and well-preserved for a house on the edge of the sea - after all, he was a scientist wasn't he, and if they were using a special paint preservative - it would be neighborly to share the secret.

Though Sarah had come home to Drake house, it wasn't that alone that drew her. She had her own agenda, and secrets. Damon had not arrived in the sleepy coastal town alone. Dangerous men had tracked him down and Sarah, a security expert (among other things) was there to protect him - whether he wanted her protection or not. When these two finally met, what would be revealed was a prophecy come true, as both Damon and Sarah discovered a desire and a passion more burning than either had ever experienced before. As with all things, happily ever after could only come true if Sarah, with the help of her sisters, could keep the aura of death that surrounded Damon from claiming him for his latest victim.

*** Okay, I confess that I have been lax in finally getting around to see what all the hubbub has been about this author, but finally - I see! Boy, do I ever! What I find even more incredible is that this author has made a fan of me with a little over 100 pages that blended in action, suspense and an almost erotic sensual feeling to a romance I found totally satisfying and didn't want to end. Luckily, this is a reprint of a story from an anthology previously published as LOVER BEWARE, but more importantly, as the first in a series, I will now be on the lookout for the rest of the books that will be published in what looks to be an amazing Drake Sisters series. Captivating, original, and totally satisfying - I personally can't wait for the rest of the adventures sure to come regarding the magical sisters in this remarkable Drake family series.

2 out of 5 stars An introduction to a series that should had more meat on it.   February 15, 2006

Yes, it's a short book, but "Magic in the Wind" left me starving. I have read most of Feehan's books (Love her) and normally there is nothing like a book by her. No matter what series I have read they were all powerful and magical in their own way. I also knew it was a story pulled from an anthology when I bought it, so I knew it would be a short story. That didn't matter. No, what mattered that as a short story and the first book to a series, the book bombed. There was not enough content to keep the story going. Any place that details could have been expanded was passed up.

I read on the cover that it is suppose to be rewritten and added to, I haven't read the first version, but I can only imagine that it would be worse. This version was bad, and there is one out there with less information?? How did this get published? Especially as the first book to a series. There were not a lot of details about the other sisters. Or any ideas as to how the series would go. There was not anywhere enough information in this book for it to be a first book.

I hope the second book is a little more informative. And Drew. What ever happened to Drew?? That was kinds skipped, for that matter, what was wrong with Drew?? We never even got to hear that. There is a lot you won't hear from this book. Being that it is the first book of a series, I would recommend you to read it for introduction purposes of the series. Borrow it or get it from the library, even though it is $2.99, but don't expect much.

I am a big fan of Ms Feehan, and I hate to give this short story a low grade, but.... To start at the beginning, The front cover sould use a bit of sprucing up. Looking at the book cover would not have drawn me to it if I had seen in at a store rather than on Amazon.
The book itself, well I feel as tho I spent 2.99 to buy what amounts to a glorified outline or first try at a story that has no mystery or advnture to it, especially to those of us who have enjoyed previous antics of the 'sisters'. Since I enjoy the author's works, I have to assume tht either her editor or publisher planned this piece of a story. We know from the beginning how the story will end. We do not see much action from the sisters. it is interesting how a whole section is left out;that being the obvious healing of the young man by one of the sisters conviently out of town. I suppose she will make it home in time to heal the patient when her turn comes to have a book.
There are so many openings for adventure and magic that are left untouched. The book is missing 200+ pages of fun and fear.sex and sarcasm. Will Ms Feehan rewrite and flesh out these characters? I certainly hope so. When will shy Hannah and the bossy sherrif finally realize they are a match?.

Yes I will continue to buy and enjoy her books, but this in actuallty belongs in an anthology, not out on its own. Please, no more of this very dissaappointing style of publication, and I do not blame the author for this.

One last note; the font style and spacing are too small. Try thinking about all of us with less than perfect vision nest time.

Damon Wilder is considered the smartest man in the world. He is a cynical scientist, believing in only what can be proven by science, and he's also on the run. Damon is the mastermind behind a state of the art defense system, and for his trouble, he and a colleague were kidnapped and tortured by members of a shadowy group who want its secrets. His colleague didn't make it, but Damon managed to escape and flee for his life.

Now retired and disabled, Damon has moved to a small coastal town to seek refuge but knows he can't hide for long. What Damon doesn't know is that his former employer has hired a gifted security expert as his bodyguard.

Sarah Drake is the oldest of seven highly gifted sisters and very good at her job. She is, at first, surprised that Damon moved to her hometown but when their house basically welcomes him in when he stops by to visit, Sarah knows he is the man for her. The Drake home is a literal fortress and no one can gain access without invitation by one of the sisters. However, there is an ancient prophecy that says the man who is to become Sarah's great love will walk through its gates without hindrance.

Sarah and Damon are more than drawn to each other. Sparks fly at their attraction and the temperature heats up when they're together but a dark evil haunts Damon and will not let him go. Sarah and her sisters are unsure how they can defeat it and, at the same time, protect Damon from the evil men who seek to capture him again.

I thought this story had an alluring flavor to it. Beautifully written, the author's prose is spellbinding, enchanting you to fall in love with the characters, and then you suddenly forget it's only a hundred pages or so. I thought it was very good.
