 Peridot bracelet with gold overlay May 30, 2008

While it didn't cost a great deal, I decided to return this bracelet. A fussy customer, I won't wear anything that looks cheap (even if it is). I didn't care for the color of the gold overlay and felt that the clasp was too large. The peridot stones were of moderate to good quality, but somewhat on the light side. Not a super value in this case.
 Beautiful bracelet September 26, 2008
Peridot is my birthstone, and I was going to treat myself to this bracelet for my birthday last August. Coincidentally, about two months ago Amazon ran this bracelet for $19.99, but I talked myself out of it after I read the other review. Later that same day, I had a change of heart, but the bracelet had sold out. I had been kicking myself since then, but two days ago, Amazon actually ran it for 60 percent off the $39.99 price, or it amounted to $15.60, and it shipped free to boot. Again, it sold out rapidly. This is why.
I have purchased and looked at many peridot pieces of jewelry over the past 40 years, and for the money, this bracelet:
1. Does not look cheap; the gold is shiny and completely covers the silver. The workmanship of the application is indistinguishable from a 14K bracelet.
2. The color of the peridots is consistent with the picture, maybe just very slightly lighter. There is no mistaking that these are peridots. Further, they are color matched, clear, and bright.
3. Regarding the clasp, yes, it is bigger than the stones. However, these 61-year-old fingers need the larger size in order to put the bracelet on and take it off easily. The clasp sort of resembles a beetle (the "legs" are two additional clips to secure the catch).
In sum, I'm thrilled to have this bracelet. There is one more thing to remember about peridots; they are a very soft stone. In rings and bracelets, they will easily scratch, and in fact, over time the facets will actually wear smooth.
