When you want to go for subdued and earthy colors for your bedroom decor, get one of these Gujarati bed spread set. Gujaratis seem to love shades of marron, brown, rust, grey and green, colors that are very close to earth. Natural dyes are used in these furnishings. Designs are achieved through use of different color fabric in the centre, through patchwork or through applique work. Similar designs are also created in the centre of the two pillow covers. Very skilled use of hand block is made for printing all across the bed sheet and also the pillow covers. Contrast between Gujarati bedroom decor and Rajasthan decor is quite interesting. In Rajasthan the land is mostly desert or rocky. So Rajasthanis use great amount of vibrant colors to compensate for the lack of colors in the environment. Gujarat which is just adjacent to Rajasthan is greener and therefore people go for very subdued and earthy colors.

I have purchased 4 of these flat bed sheets, this should tell you how much I love them. These sheets from Shalincraft are made in India and they have always arrived on my doorstep within 3 days of purchase. I find them perfect as a lightweight bedspread in the summer or as a colorful blanket cover between the layers in winter. The colors and patterns are a work of art and I have yet to see any bleeding of color or color washout. The ones I purchased a year ago (washed weekly) are as bright as the day I purchased, even when I've washed them in warm water. If you are looking for an ultra soft sheet, keep looking, these are a heavier weave, but not coarse. A bonus, they come out of my dryer nearly wrinkle free! Ideal if, like me, you have a thick mattress and can't find anything wide enough to cover, there is even plenty of tuck room but I also leave them untucked for a bedspread look too. The king size sheets are around 120" x 100" and can be used in either direction. Another bonus, my husband loves them too because the designs are fabulous and unusual ethnic prints each one a unique work of art, not your run-of-the-mill bedroom attire. An amazing Amazon favorite find!!!
