Amazon.com Product Description This sporty Croton timepiece features a two-tone dial with white indexes, a magnified date display at three o'clock, and a unidirectional blue bezel for easy timekeeping. The flexible and polished stainless steel band fits securely to the wrist with its fold-over clasp with safety. Japanese automatic movement ensures precision and a water-resistant depth of 100 feet means you never have to worry when you head for the beach. An automatic watch is a mechanical watch that is self-winding. The movement of your wrist and body causes the rotor--a weight attached to an automatic winding mechanism--to wind up the watch. This automatic watch has 21 jewels, which are synthetic ruby stones that the gears turn on to protect the metal parts from grinding together. An automatic watch needs no battery, but it will stop if not worn for over a day (30+ hours) or if you have been physically inactive for an extended period of time. For the times when your automatic watch is not on your wrist, the elegantly-designed watch rotator will provide the movement needed to keep it accurate. A perfect pairing to your automatic watch, this rotator also works as a display case.

Stay away! Poor quality! March 27, 2008 15 out of 19 found this review helpful
I purchased Croton Men's Automatic Sport Watch with Winder #CA401094SSBL in March 2008. The watch looked nice but could not keep accurate time. It was going too fast: about 1 minute every 24 hours. I send an e-mail to Amazon and they promptly sent me a replacement. Unfortunately no luck there either. When i tried to put the watch into a winder box the bracelet fell off. I examined the band more carefully and I noticed a bunch of dings and scratches. It appeared that the watch (or maybe just the band)have been used before. I'm sending both watches to Amazon for refund. I am highly disapointed. I would advise to stay away from this brand.
What makes things even worse is the response I received from the Croton's customer service: "Send it back and we'll see what we can do." No appologies, no thanks for buying their product, no offer to pay for postage... it short terrible!!! Thanks god for Amazon's customer service... They have been highly responsive and very helpful. I'm glad that I have been dealing with them!

A note of interest.
Croton stainless steel automatic wrist watches in the 1950s were made to compete with the Omega Seamaster, and were a fantastic buy, building up a niche for that brand among watch lovers.
Movement type: self winding mechanical Jewel count: 17J Country of origin of movement: Switzerland Country of origin of case: Switzerland
But by the 1960s, most of Croton stainless steel wrist watches now had a 21 jewel windup movement, the movements were now manufactured in France while the case and bracelet was made in Hong Kong.
Movement type: mechanical [windup] Jewel count: 21J Country of origin of movement: France Country of origin of case: Hong Kong
Now, sad to say, the Croton watches are all manufactured in China, with much poorer workmanship, materials, and quality then they had been known for, and Croton watches are now just surviving on the brand name, along with the falsely stated jacked up "Retail" prices.
You get what you pay for when you buy the Amazon deal. But for the last ten years or so, no way and at no time are these Croton watches worth or retail anywhere for $400 to $600. It is a good deal for less than $60 though.
returned March 25, 2008 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
The automatic mechanism did not work, the crystal had enough condensation inside to occlude half the face, and the band clasp was scratched. I couldn't decide which reason best justified my return.
cheap product March 25, 2008 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Sorry everyone, but this is NOT a $600 watch. I opened my package, took a look at the watch, and sent it back for a refund in a heartbeat. It's incredibly cheap-looking (the luminescent paint was messy and thick), and the mechanism is very loud. The watch face is much gaudier in person than it seems in the picture. It was supposed to be a gift, but I would be embarrassed to give it to anyone.
To Croton or not to Croton? December 9, 2007 8 out of 13 found this review helpful
I first heard of Croton watches on one of those shopping channels. They had them on sale, they looked nice, so I bought the one pictured above for my husband and a crystal diamond watch for myself.
That was over 8 years ago, and we are still wearing them! The quality is superb, the look has rendered many, many compliments. My husbands watch band has had to be replaced over the years as he is ruff on watches. However, the quartz movement and dial are in excellent condition.
I would highly recommend the Croton line. And I hope you will enjoy your watch for many years to come!
