Amazon.com Product Description With the Polar S1 Foot Pod, you can track your speed, distance, pace and average speed on a compatible Polar heart rate monitor (HRM). The Polar S1 combines inertial technology and DSP (digital signal processing) to provide accurate speed/pace and distance data. Worn on top of your shoe, it offers excellent water resistance. It's compatible with Polar S625X, S725X, RS200 and RS400 models. It comes with an extra holder fork. About Polar The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight. Polar is the leading brand among consumers, coaches, and personal trainers worldwide and the company is committed to not only producing the best products, but also being the leading educator on the benefits of heart rate based exercise.

Quite accurate mileage, good motivator for runners February 19, 2007 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This thing keeps me motivated to run since I want to see those miles pile up week after week! While calibrating it on an indoor track, I found that it was very accurate as is. Only complaint is that it is somewhat pricey.
Accurate and easy to use - a great investment September 28, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I've had the S1 foot pod for about a month and used it for about 120 miles or so of running. I've found it to be very accurate out of the box and easy to use. I am not-sensitive enough to notice the weight differential between my feet and I forget it's there. I've ran in a few rain showers (not downpours, but definitely some rain) and not had any issues with the S1. While the S1 is over $100, it's a great investment in terms of the wealth of data and the flexibility it offers. It's helping me "learn" pace in terms of cadence and effort into actual min/mile numbers and it offers the flexibility of performing a speed workout anywere. I highly recommend the S1 if you are someone who is training for specific time goals in races. If not, then you may not need such a device - but then you probably wouldn't be here reading reviews would you?
Works great July 12, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
The foot pod works great, it is nice to know what speed and distance I am going. I gave 4 stars only because it is a little expensive.
Great addition to the work-out September 18, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The foot pod really enhances my work-outs. It's nice to have a reliable indicator of distance travelled without having to keep opening a pedometer or using a home computer to track after the work-out has been completed. It does appear large when you look at it, but truthfully you do not feel the weight of it on your foot. It is pricey, but so far I would say it has been a wise investment.
pretty comfortable December 11, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I read some reviews commenting on its accuracy. With respect, I must say the accuracy comes from the watch, not the foot pod. I have a 625, (and a 725) and I have no complaints with the footpod other than i hope polar finds a way to make it smaller in the future. Other than that, I can't imagine what else to comment on.
Don't forget to turn it on before going running..haha
