About the MaxLife 369 Stanley's MaxLife 369 flashlight has an innovative tripod design that offers hands-free convenience in all kinds of settings. Good concept, poor execution December 17, 2006 41 out of 44 found this review helpful
The tripod design is a great idea. The frame is also well constructed, and has quality feel.
However, they must have sourced some lousy/cheap LED. The brightness pales in comparison to a LED flashlight that operates on 2 AA batteries, and this is in the brightest setting with all 6 LEDs on and brand new batteries.
Also, I couldn't find the lumens rating, either on Amazon or the box. Probably for a reason.

Great little flashlight. I,ve had this light for several weeks now and it still functions as the day I recieved it.(as a gift) since the lights are LEDs they are very energy efficient. It also has three diffrent settings for briteness which seems unnecessary. I,ve always used the brightest setting and had no problem with low batteries. the tripod is handy also as it will allow you to set and aim it via the tilt head. It is well worth the money unlike many new gadgets and I am expecting many more years of use as it is a well built tool.
Not Up To Stanley's Standards January 17, 2007 32 out of 34 found this review helpful
This is NO $30 flashlight. Cheap on/off switch either doesn't change the brightness or turns it off when you want it brighter. AA batteries are stored in the legs with very flimsy screw feet to hold them in. If you twisted too hard it would probably strip the plastic threads. Adjustable aiming beam has light detent stops.
Overall, I would not buy this item again. It says "heavy-duty" but I don't give it a year. Definitely not a professional grade tool.
Maximum Life for Max Life November 6, 2006 29 out of 56 found this review helpful
Cheese Louise! I would think that someone would have talked this up already! Max Life? Why run all nine batteries when only only three meets the voltage requirement? I use the three in the barrel that has "MaxLife "389 Tripod" emblazoned on it. The other two legs have batteries in them, but I've placed a small square piece of electrical tape on the cathode end of one of each of the cells in both legs. I'd draw ya'll a picture but what you're doing is "keeping" both of the remaining two legs as "spares" so that when the little red light starts to blink "low bat. -lo bat." you can change over to one of the "fresh" legs! Just remove the small square piece of electrical tape (removing any "glueish" residue that may have oozed onto the ends of both or either of the "conjoined with tape" batteries) and popping them back into the fresh barrel. Take the tape and put it onto the end of one of the batteries in the "spent" barrel" and this will preclude the spent batteries from being in parallel circuit with the fresh batteries. If you happen to be located or nearby an official "alkaline battery disposal location", you could leave them there; otherwise take them home, remove them and reload the spent barrel with fresh batteries. By putting the tape back over the spent batteries column, you prevent the fresh batteries from draining into them, what with their affinity for electrons and such. So! Now you've got a fresh set of batteries always available! The two spares should give you the applause and amazement due to such a prepared flashlight person, should you be with a group of others when the little red light goes blinkety blink. Needs More Brightness December 26, 2006 29 out of 32 found this review helpful
I thought that the idea for a hands-free flashlight was very innovative, especially if someone is working beneath a car, under the sink, on a wall surface, etc.
As other reviews have said, though, this light doesn't cut it when it comes to brightness, even with all bulbs illuminated and all batteries in place.
Might be a good idea to wait for Stanley to iron out the kinks on this model and pick up the next generation of the MaxLife.
